Iran "Powerful Army" Circa 1960s

This example of Pahlavi-era propaganda was produced during a period of rapid military modernization and rising nationalism in Iran. The poster features a towering soldier positioned against a map of the nation and the Lion and Sun (Shir-o-Khorshid) flag—a symbol of Iranian identity used from the 19th century until the 1979 Revolution.

The Persian text at the bottom reads: "A strong army is the protector of independence and a source of pride for every Iranian".  Created during the Cold War, this artwork served to project an image of Iran as a stable, sovereign regional power, positioning the military not just as a defensive force, but as the central guardian of the nation’s ancient heritage and modern progress.
